Welcome

team HAYA is a group of young automobile enthusiasts, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Peoples Education Society Institute of Technology (PESIT), committed to build formula style race cars and to take part in FSAE Michigan 2010.

Students at team HAYA are prepared to be constantly challenged in an increasingly competitive environment, equipped with a holistic skill set to face the real world. team HAYA has provided an apt platform for the vibrant students to expand their boundaries, collaborate and learn.

THANKS TO A PES EXPERIENCE!! PESIT shows unwavering commitment in delivering education that will stand students a good stead no matter which career they choose. They focus on creating leaders of tomorrow’s world, men and women who will not just be successful in their individual capabilities, but who will in turn, contribute to and nurture the world they live in. The institute extends unending support to student endeavors.

team HAYA provides great experience for young engineers in a meaningful engineering project as well as an opportunity of working in a dedicated team effort.

How it began

team HAYA was the brain child of a few students who presented anoverview of FSAE to their fellow mates seeking volunteers from amongst them to cover the technical and administrative aspects of the endeavor. The students had to convince the college management and faculty. A wooden model was made, and a detailed presentation was given to the director of the college, D Jawahar, who not only appreciated the project but also agreed to fund it.

The Team

Team HAYA was conceived from an inspiration that struck five students. Early February saw the birth of FSAE culture in our campus. It was the 11th of FEB 2008, the first step forward was taken, by presenting an overview of FSAE to their fellow mates. Volunteers were sought from amongst classmates, people who were willing to go all the way.

The Inspiration

The real inspiration to undertake this activity came from a group of bright engineers, who wanted to do something unique. Indeed, designing a Formula 1 race car is the aspiration of practically every budding mechanical engineer.

Why the name "HAYA"

The students named the team Haya, meaning horse, to bring in an element of Indian culture. Indian mythology says, "Haya" to the Gods, "Arvan" to the Asuras, "Vajin" to the Gandharvas, and "Ashwa" to men. These names suggest qualities which fit the Horse in each case to the peculiar type of its rider. The meaning of the word "Haya" is especially difficult to seize. The Upanishads say it must arise from the radical sense of motion born by the root "hi".

"We dream in Black and White"

The team logo aptly represents the spirit of its members. Here, black and white stands for the Checkered Flag in Motor Racing.. Yes, team HAYA has its eyes set on it!!

As a first step, the team intends to compete in the Australian edition of the Formula SAE Competition during November, 2008. After slogging for hours in the lab and cutting back on their social life, the students have built a prototype racecar PM408P successfully!

The racecar will be formally inaugurated on November 15th, 2008 at PESIT, Bangalore. Seems all the hard work has finally paid off...
