The show had space for their car too

Bangalore: Students of PES Institute of Technology (PESIT) have added another feather to their cap by displaying the car they built, at Aero India 2009. Team Haya, a group of 15 young and confident automobile enthusiasts from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, built the car, PM408.
The car has caught the attention of several visitors at the air show, including that of Ratan Tata, chairman of the Tata Group. Mr. Tata reportedly commended the team’s efforts in building the car. Bolstered by the success of PM408, Team Haya has its task set out for the next event with the new car PM409, which will take part in the Formula SAE to be held at Italy. The team is now set on taking PM408 to Formula SAE Italy 2009 to be held this September on Ferrari’s Home track at Maranello.
Funding
The students had to convince the college management and faculty to be able to build the car. A wooden model was made and a detailed presentation was given to Director of PESIT D. Jawahar, who not only appreciated the project but also agreed to fund it. Team Haya then brought out the prototype of the car, which was launched by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. Team Haya hopes to broaden its horizons and set higher goals for itself in the years to come.

Why the name "HAYA"
The students named the team Haya, meaning horse, to bring in an element of Indian culture. Indian mythology says, "Haya" to the Gods, "Arvan" to the Asuras, "Vajin" to the Gandharvas, and "Ashwa" to men. These names suggest qualities which fit the Horse in each case to the peculiar type of its rider. The meaning of the word "Haya" is especially difficult to seize. The Upanishads say it must arise from the radical sense of motion born by the root "hi".
