Why the name "HAYA"The students named the team Haya, meaning horse, to bring in an element of Indian culture. Indian mythology says, "Haya" to the Gods, "Arvan" to the Asuras, "Vajin" to the Gandharvas, and "Ashwa" to men. These names suggest qualities which fit the Horse in each case to the peculiar type of its rider. The meaning of the word "Haya" is especially difficult to seize. The Upanishads say it must arise from the radical sense of motion born by the root "hi". |
